5 Branding Mistakes to Avoid

Branding is more than just a logo. Your creative look and feel as well as the services you offer make a difference to your audience. You may be missing out on customers or attracting the wrong types of customers if you don't approach your brand with strategy in mind. Here are 5 common branding mistakes you could be making.

1. Using copyrighted creative found online opens yourself and your business up to legal troubles. Images on Google or other graphics sites may not have authority to distribute images which could mean your logo isn’t really yours to use.

2. Inconsistency in branding assets such as colors, logos and fonts. If your branding is not shown the same way across all digital platforms and physical locations you may confuse your audience which will turn off potential customers.

3. Creating a brand based on you personally rather than a brand based in strategy for your industry. Your brand should communicate what your business is about rather than who you are as an individual. Save your personal preferences for your annual holiday card.

4. Try not to be too much. Offering too many services that don't work together will confuse your messaging and your audience. Consider dividing your business into two businesses so you can really hone in on what you're all about and promote your services to the appropriate audience.

5. By not being enough. If your business has grown since you last worked on your branding it may not reflect your current offerings. You may be missing out on customers if your business grew large while your brand stayed small.

With these 5 things in mind, do you feel your branding is the best in can be?
